Johnson’s Baby Powder Licence Cancelled in Maharashtra

Mumbai, Sept 18: Johnson & Johnson has to stop manufacturing its baby powder in Maharashtra as Food and Drugs Administration of Maharashtra has cancelled its license “in the interest of public health at large.”

According to media reports, the Maharashtra government agency said the company’s product, Johnson’s Baby Powder, may affect the skin of newborns. Samples of the powder did not meet standards during a laboratory test, the regulator said in a statement.

It can be noted here that Johnson and Johnson had announced that its baby powder would be discontinued globally in 2023 and replaced with corn starch. Accordingly, the pharma giant discontinued the product two years ago in Canada and US. However, this baby powder is widely available in India.
