Increasing Dengue Cases: DC Warns of Criminal Case Against Officers if They Fail to Take Preventive Measure

DHARWAD, June 15: In the wake of rising dengue cases, which also claimed a four-year-old child’s life in Dharwad, Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu has warned the concerned officials to take all precautionary measures to check the disease.

Chairing a meeting convened here to assess the dengue situation in the district, the DC warned the authorities that if the number of suspected dengue cases does not dip in the next 15 days, criminal cases under the Public Negligence Act will be registered against the officials concerned.

“Officials must to delegate tasks to their subordinates and remain confined to their offices. They should go to the field, study situation and come up with concrete plans to check the spread of the vector-borne diseases.

Public awareness programmes and surveys should be carried out widely in the urban and rural areas in order to prevent the increase of diseases like dengue and chicken pox in the district, she said.

Mummigatti village in Dharwad have reported Dengue positive cases and there 3,200 houses. Larvae survey should be conducted in every house, DC Divya Prabhu added.
