In A first, SWR Loads Heavy Machines From Gangavathi

HUBBALLI: for the first time, Hubballi Division of South Western Railway has loaded 92 Paddy Crushing Machines (Harvester Machines) and 3 Mini Goods Carrier in 32 DBKM wagons from Gangavathi to Mannargudi in Tamilnadu.

According to a SWR press release, these Machines were the consignment of an Aggregation of farmers from Gangavathi which are being sent to Mannargudi on rental basis. It covers a distance of 916 Kms and has fetched revenue of Rs.10.5 Lakhs to the Railways. It has also provided convenient, faster, cheaper and efficient transportation mode for the Aggregation of farmers.

Hubballi Division developed Goods loading facility at Gangavathi to help the farmers and industries of this part of the region to transport their goods to new markets across the country. During current financial year upto the end of December 2021, a total 10 Mini rakes of rice (total 13169 Tonnes) has been transported from Gangavathi to various parts of the country viz., Azara near Guwahati, Jirania in Tripura, Tarakeshwar & Sankarail in West Bengal etc. It has also received an inward traffic of 5 rakes of steel consignments.

Arvind Malkhede, Hubballi Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) congratulated the Business Development Unit of Hubballi Division for this achievement. He said that Business Development Unit of Hubballi Division played an important role in capturing this traffic from Gangavathi by keeping constantly in touch with farmers, trade & industries. It clarified all the doubts of the loading customers regarding routing, rating, rail transit time etc. He urged the industry to use new terminals developed by Hubballi Division at Gangavathi and Khajjidoni. He said that one new Goods terminal is also under development at Karatagi.
