In A First, Dharwad District Sees Over 1,000 New Coronavirus Infections


DHARWAD: For the first time ever, Dharwad district has reported more than 1,000 new cases of Covid-19.

There were 1,021 new coronavirus infections on Sunday, May 2, 2021, according to the bulletin released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

Dharwad stood seventh in Karnataka after Bengaluru Urban (22,112), Mysuru (2,685), Tumakuru (2,361), Hassan (1,673), Mandya (1,367) and Kalaburagi (1,083).

The new infections have pushed Dharwad’s total Covid tally to 32,741. Of these, 27,496 people have been discharged while 4,531 patients are still under treatment. On the day, 558 patients were discharged.

Dharwad also reported four new deaths related to Covid-19, raising the overall mortalities to 714 since the pandemic began.
