Hubballi-Dharwad West MLA Arvind Bellad’s Visit To Delhi Sparks Rumours

‘I’ve come here for a family function, not to discuss politics’

BJP MLA from Hubballi-Dharwad West, Arvind Bellad, met the party’s national general secretary B L Santhosh in New Delhi on Saturday, June 12, 2021, ostensibly to complain about Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa.

If news reports are to be believed, Bellad also tried to meet the BJP’s Karnataka in-charge Arun Singh but didn’t get an appointment.

Bellad, along with minister C P Yogeshwar, is said to be seeking the ouster of Yediyurappa. He is reportedly upset at the chief minister’s style of functioning.

Bellad’s visit to New Delhi comes amid speculation that Yediyurappa may be asked to step down. The chief minister has, however, exuded confidence that he would complete his term.

On his part, Bellad claimed that he had gone to the national capital on a “personal visit”.

“I had come to Delhi for a family function. There was no political intention behind it. I didn’t go to Delhi to meet (BJP) national leaders or to discuss political developments,” he tweeted.

“Despite the fact that I’ve come to Delhi for a personal event, the media has been reporting that I have come to Delhi to discuss political developments. All these media reports about my visit to Delhi are far from truth. I request the media friends to not create any unnecessary noise about my visit to Delhi,” he added in the Twitter post.
