Hubballi Airport To Get Cargo Transport Facility Soon

Hubballi, February 25: Airports Authority of India and Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Ltd will start luggage transport facilities from the Hubballi airport.

The clearance of the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), which is the regulatory authority, is awaited for the reserved terminal. To prevent inconvenience to the passengers, a dedicated X-Ray baggage check facility has been provided to transport luggage from the passengers’ terminal.

The operating airlines – Air India, Indigo and Star Air – have agreed to use the facilities provided at the cargo terminal and the terminal building to move the passengers’ luggage. The current facilities available have given them access to prominent gateway ports, including Chennai and Mumbai.

Spread across an area of 700 square metres, the new cargo terminal can hold a weight of 15,000 metric tons annually.

The process for the final checking is expected to be completed by March 2021, to get the final permission too. Till then, the cargo may be transported from the passengers’ terminal building owned by the BCAS.
