DHARWAD: In a bid to ensure people come out in large numbers for voting, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil, who is also the District Returning Officer, has declared a general holiday on September 3.
According to the order issued by Patil, all the government employees, semi government, and private employees are entitled for the holiday.
The Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation (HDMC) elections would be held on September 3 from 7:00 am till 6:00 pm.
Even those who are working outside the district and are voters of HDMP, should be given a paid holiday so that they can exercise their franchise. However, the holiday is not applicable to those on emergency duties. This order applies for all the institutions coming under the Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881.
