Encroachments On Footpaths Cleared At Public Request: DC Nitesh Patil

HUBBALLI: Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil said that based on public request encroachments on roads and footpaths are being cleared at Hubballi’s Koppikar Road and Dajibanpet areas.

He was speaking to media persons today as he led the process of evacuation of shops, which were functional unofficially in the Dajibanpet, Pendargalli, Belagavi Galli, Durgadbaid, Kaladgi Oni and surrounding areas.

“Fifteen days ago, a warning about the clearance drive was issued in collaboration with district administration, HDMC authorities and police officers,” DC Nitesh Patil said.

“The roads were wide enough. Even though, Public was facing difficulty while using footpath and roads due to the encroachments by the shopkeepers. Based on public request, we carried out the clearance drive,” He informed.

The DC further added that the Koppikar Road and Dajibanpet road were 18 meters wide. “It will be measured according to the map. If any encroachments are found, it will be cleared.”

HDMC Commissioner Dr Suresh Itnal, deputy police commissioner Ramarajan, Tahsildar Shashidhar Madyal and other officers were present.
