DHARWAD: The Covid death toll in the Dharwad district has breached the 1,000-mark as the district reported nine casualties on Sunday, June 6, 2021.
As per the bulletin released by the Health and Family Welfare Department, as many as 1,008 Covid patients have succumbed to the deadly infection so far in the Dharwad district.
The Dharwad district has been consistently reporting a high number of deaths. While Dharwad is the only district in Bombay Karnataka to report over 1,000 covid deaths, it is at the fourth position among all districts of Karnataka. Bengaluru Urban has seen 14,875 Covid deaths, Mysuru 1,722 and Ballari 1,410.
However, when it comes to total Covid infections, Dharwad is not in the top 5. It’s actually at a distant 11th position. Bengaluru Urban has seen a total of 11,83,126 Covid cases, followed by Mysuru (1,50,885), Tumakuru (1,08,245), Ballari (93,944), Hassan (90,492), Dakshina Kannada (80,080), Belagavi (70,678), Mandya (64,372), Kalaburagi (60,567) and Udupi (62,264). Then comes Dharwad with 57,197 total cases.
