COVID-19 Cases On Rise In Dharwad Dist: Fairs Banned

DHARWAD: A spike in Covid-19 cases in Dharwad and a few other districts in the last week has hinted at the second wave of the pandemic. Hence, the State Government banned car festivals, urs, and fairs to avoid crowding in public places.

Chairing a meeting of the health taskforce in Dharwad, Deputy Commissioner Nitesh Patil said, “The Covid-19 situation has reoccurred as it was previous year. Adopting all precautions and increasing vaccination drive should be given priority.

“Gatherings including fairs, car festivals (Rathotsava) and Urs in the district have been banned as a precautionary measure against the coronavirus until further orders,” he added.

 The DC said, those who don’t follow the Covid-19 protocol would be dealt with iron hands. Those who continue to violate the orders and create problems will face criminal cases. Wearing face mask would be made compulsory and also maintaining social distance at public places.
