CM Yediyurappa Makes Big Announcement About Full-Fledged Lockdown

HUBBALLI TIMES NEWS DESK

Amid increasing pressure to impose full lockdown in Karnataka from various quarters, Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa on Friday, May 7, hinted that a complete lockdown in the state might have to be imposed as COVID-19 caseload is on a continuous rise.

As people have not been following COVID protocols leading to a rise in cases, a full lockdown might have to be imposed, the Chief Minister said while speaking to reporters after visiting Annamma Devi temple in Bengaluru’s Gandhinagar.

“People are not following rules. It might be inevitable to go in for a complete lockdown in Karnataka. We will decide in two days,” the CM said.

“If people don’t want such strict rules, then they should abide by Covid appropriate behavior by wearing masks and maintain social distancing. Imposing complete lockdown will be inevitable,” Yediyurappa warned.

Karnataka Thursday recorded 49,058 new cases and 328 deaths.
