City Police Arrest 11 People over Cricket Betting

HUBBALLI, Nov 07 : The Hubballi-Dharwad police have arrested 11 people who were allegedly involved in cricket betting during Bangladesh vs Sri Lanka ICC Cricket World Cup cricket match.

The police carried out raids at six various locations in the limits of the commissionerate and registered seven cases against the bookies. They seized a total of Rs. 76,420 in cash and eight mobile phones.

The Vidyagiri police conducted a raid near Bandemma Temple in Gandhi Nagar locality. They held two suspects and seized cash worth Rs. 36,120 and three mobile phones from them.

Similarly, Dharwad Sub-Urban police carried out a raid near Uday Hostel where they seized Rs. 14,500, and a mobile phone from a suspect.

Dharwad Town police conducted a raid near Bhosappa near Kempageri and confiscated Rs. 13,500 cash and two mobile phones from two persons.

In Hubballi, Ashok Nagar police and Gokul Road police conducted raids near Nruptunga Betta and near Hotel Denissons respectively. They arrested three bookies and confiscated Rs. 6,800 cash and two mobile phones.

The Bendigeri police also conducted a raid near Bidnal cross and arrested three bookies. They have seized Rs. 5,500 cash from them.
