HUBBALLI: In a bid to support communities in the fight against Covid-19, Vedanta set up a 100-bed Covid field hospital in on the premises of Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in Hubballi.
Built in less than three weeks, this makeshift air conditioned hospital has oxygen supply to all beds, 20 Intensive Care Unit beds, triage rooms, X-Ray, ECG, ventilators, patient monitoring system, and other facilities.
Union minister for Coal, Mines and Parliamentary Affairs Pralhad Joshi inaugurated the hospital in the virtual presence of Anil Agarwal, Chairman of Vedanta; on Saturday, June 12.
Appreciating Vedanta’s endeavour to partner with the Government to counter the second wave of Covid-19, Joshi said, ” I would like to thank Shri Anil Agarwal ji for immediately coming forward and setting up Covid Care Hospital in Hubli-Dharwad on my request. Shri Anil Agarwal Ji and Vedanta Group has been very efficient and aggressive and has set-up 2 Covid Field Hospitals in the record time in the state of Karnataka. Even during the first wave. Vedanta had been very prompt to provide medical equipment infrastructure support, medicines etc. On the behalf of the Government of India and people of Dharwad, I would once again like to express my gratitude to Shri Anil Agarwal.”
Anil Agarwal said, “We are fully committed to our philosophy of giving back. The second wave of the pandemic has disrupted lives and livelihoods and we are doing all that we can to support the Centre and the State governments in the battle against Covid-19. Karnataka is one of the two states in the country where we are setting up two Vedanta Cares field hospitals and this is a testimony to our commitment to serving the communities here through state-of-the-art medical facilities.
Minister Jagadish Shettar, Vedanta CEO (Iron & Steel Business) Sauvick Mazumdar, Director Krishna Reddy, Basavaraj Horrati, MLAs Arvind Bellad, Prasad Abbayya, Amrut Desai, MLC Pradeep Shettar, DC Nitesh Patil, and others were present.
