Check-Post Officials Seize Gold Ornaments Worth Rs 38.50 Lakh in Dharwad

Dharwad, March 22: Tegur check-post officials, On Thursday, seized gold ornaments worth Rs. 38.50 lakh which were being transported without proper documentation in a state government bus.

According to a press release issued by the district election officials, Prakashkumar Hukamji Mali, a 47-year-old resident of Kolhapur, Maharashtra, was found carrying 778 grams of gold ornaments, including a necklace and locket, on KSRTC bus number KA-37-F-0748 (Nippani-Gangavati) while traveling from Kolhapur to Sindhanur.

During routine checkup, authorities found a discrepancy between the weight of the gold ornaments listed on the bills presented by Mali and the actual weight of the seized items.
