DHARWAD, April 4: Officials of IT Department have sent the cash seized from an apartment in Arana Residency in Narayanapur here to SBI main branch in Keshwapur in Hubballi.
In a major haul, the sleuths of Income Tax Department and the Vigilance Squad of Election Commission had Tuesday unearthed a huge amount of cash stacked in the apartment.
According to a report, based on a tip-off that illegal liquor was procured in an apartment located at Dasankoppa Circle, the excise officials raided the house. As they noticed cash stacked in the house, the issue was brought to the notice of the Vigilance Squad which raided the spot. As the cash exceeded over Rs 10 lakh, the case was transferred to IT Department.
Over 20 officials from IT Department have camped in the apartment and have started questioning the owner, officials informed.
