Dharwad, Nov 23: The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has ordered a builder to return the money received from a customer with interest.
According to a DH report, One Parameshwar Vighneshwar Bhat of Banavasi in Sirsi taluk of Uttara Kannada district had approached the commission, alleging that he paid Rs 13.95 lakh advance amount to Shri Veerabhadreshwar Infrastructure & Housing Pvt Ltd managing director Naganagouda Shivanagouda Neeralagi for constructing a house for him on 1,200 square feet site at Poornima Layout.
However, the builder failed to construct the house as he utilised the amount received from Bhat for his personal works.
After hearing the case, commission ordered the builder to return the total amount received from the complainant, adding 9% interest with effect from June 4, 2015, and to pay Rs one lakh as compensation for the inconvenience caused to him, and Rs 10,000 as litigation charges.
