Anjuman Election On December 28 For 19 Posts

HUBBALLI,Dec 20: City’s prestigious Muslim institution Anjuman-E-Islam is all set to go for polls on December 28 to elect 19 office bearers including its president.

Established in 1903, the Anjuman-E-Islam Hubballi had been going for elections for 52 posts once in every three years from 1982 to 2019. However, this time, the number of office bearers has come down from 52 to 19, as the elections are being held as per the Karnataka Wakf Rules 2017 and not according to the Anjuman bylaws.

Accordingly, this Anjuman election would be held to elect President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Treasurer, and 15 office bearers.

Previously, Anjuman elections used to be held for 52 posts including President, Vice-President, General Secretary, Treasurer, Joint Secretary, Hospital Board Secretary, 4 members for Hospital Board, 7 members for Education Board, 10 members for working committee, and 25 life members.

In this election, every eligible voter has to cast 19 votes. Earlier, the voter had to cast 52 votes.

Election Schedule:

Last date of filing nominations: December 21 at the library of Anjuman Campus in Ghantikeri.
Last date of withdrawal: December 22.
Scrutiny of nominations: December 22.
Releasing symbols : December 23.
Polling date: From 9 am on December 28 at Nehru Arts, Science and Commerce college premises.
Counting of votes: December 29.

As usual, there is stiff and triangular fight between three factions led by Mohammed Yusuf Savanur, Mazhar Khan and team of former MLA Jabbar Khan Honnalli to come to power this time. During last election, faction led by Mohammed Yusuf Savanur won the election and came to power.

In all, 11,901 voters will be electing 19 office bearers of the Anjuman in this election
