Anjali Murder Accused Arrested with Severe Injuries

HUBBALLI, May 17: Railway police at Davanagere have reportedly arrested Vishwanath alias Girish Sawanth who brutally killed Anjali in Hubballi and escaped in the early hours of Wednesday.

Railway police inspector Santosh Patil and PSI Nagaraj successfully arrested the accused.

Informing this to mediapersons, Hubballi-Dharwad Police Commissioner Renuka Sukumar said, “The man wanted for the murder of Anjali was arrested last night in Davanagere with the help of railway police. He has suffered serious injuries on his head and face. It has been reported that he fell off from a train and got injured. However, we are probing as to how and what exactly happened in the train. He was admitted to KIMS Hospital at around 4.30 a.m.”

Sukumar further said that a case was registered at Bendigeri police station in connection with Anjali’s murder.

The accused had allegedly barged into Anjali’s house at Veerapar Oni in Hubballi on Wednesday morning and stabbed her to death.

“The accused already has four bike theft cases against him,” Sukumar added.

Girish reportedly tried to attack a lady passenger with his knife. When the lady started screaming, her family members and co-passengers confronted Girish. To escape public action, he reportedly jumped off the running train.

More details are yet to be ascertained.
