ABVP Stages Protest Against BVB Administration

HUBBALLI, July 23: Member of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) staged a protest against the management of BVB Engineering College, in front of the college premises in Vidyanagar here on Tuesday morning.

“240 engineering seats under government quota were offered through KCET to the students from underprivileged sections like OBC, SC/ST and minority. Due to this facility, thousands of students from these sections got education and they hold high position in the society today,” the protesters said.

“By privatizing these 240 seats, the administration of BVB College has done injustice to the poor and talented students from OBC, SC/ST sections. ABVP strongly condemns this injustice,” they said.

Addressing the protest, Manikantha Kalasa said that through this protest, ABVP demands the Karnataka Chief Minister, Karnataka Government and BVB Management to reopen the government-aided BVB Engineering College and make 240 seats available to poor and talented students.

Hundreds of ABVP workers tried to besiege the office of Vice-Chancellor Ashoka Shettar. The police took the activists into their custody and later released them.

Manikantha Kalasa, Siddhartha Kori, Vijaya Kallur, Maunesha Gowda, Raghavendra, Manu, Varun, Anmol, Nagaraj, Supreek, Santhosh, Dhanesh, Ganesh, Nagadatta Wadeyar, Abhishek, Tilak, Sanjan Hiremath and others were present.
