HUBBALLI, July 9: The Ashok Nagar police have arrested a youth and detained four minors for allegedly assaulting an 18-year-old schoolboy.
One of the arrested has been identified as Francis Udumila (19), a student of a paramedical college. Other four are minors from various schools in Hubballi. They have been apprehended under the Juvenile Justice Act.
The incident took place on June 27 but came to light when the video of the assault went viral on social media. In the video, it can be seen that a group of five people assaulting a student who was in the uniform.
The boy was beaten allegedly for talking to a girl after arguments between the victim and others.
Ashok Nagar police inspector Kiran Kumar Tavaragi said that a special team was formed who conducted the investigation and arrested the accused.
