UDUPI, May 26: An alert track maintainer averted a possible train mishap on Konkan railway Corporation Network in Udupi district on Sunday.
The track man Pradeep Shetty noticed a weld failure of tracks between Innanje and Padubidri stations in Udupi during the night round at 2.25 am and immediately informed the higher officials.
Responding to his message, engineering department took up the restoration measures of the defective rail.
Mumbai LTT-Thiruvananthapuram Central Netravathi Express (16345) was set to depart Udupi station at 3 am towards Mangaluru Junction Railway Station.
KRCL Chairman and Managing Director Santosh Kumar Jha rewarded the trackman with Rs. 25,000 cash prize. Senior Engineer Gopalkrishnan and team also felicitated Pradeep Shetty.
