Hubballi-Dharwad Slipped from 61st Rank to 87th Rank in Cleanliness Survey

HUBBALLI, Jan 13: Twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad have slipped from the previous year’s 61st rank to 87th rank in the national-level ‘Swachh Sarvekshan 2023’. The result was announced on Thursday.

However, the City has retained the second cleanest city tag at the State-level, in the category of cities with more than one lakh population.

The ranking was decided by marks of quarterly assessments, marks of certifications (open defecation-free and garbage-free cities), and Swachh Survekshan (direct observation, citizen feedback, and service level progress).

Union Housing & Urban Affairs Ministry conducts the cleanliness survey every year and the theme for this year was ‘Waste to Wealth’.

Mysuru, however, is ranked first cleanest city within Karnataka and stands second in all-India ranking in the 3-10 lakh population category. Indore, for the seventh consecutive time, was declared the cleanest city in India.
