Doctor Duped of Rs 30 Lakh

HUBBALLI,Jan 12: Unknown fraudsters managed to siphoned off Rs 30.16 lakh from a doctor in Hubballi.

According to Cyber Police, Dr Rajeev Joshi received a phone call allegedly from FedEx company from Mumbai. The caller told him that some products, including clothes, laptop, credit cards have been booked in his name. They also said his Aadhaar card has been linked with the booked products.

When the doctor replied that he had not booked any products, the fraudster told his Aadhaar card details had been leaked, and also the fraudster advised the victim to book a complaint with Mumbai cyber crime police.

After some time, the victim got a video call on his mobile phone from a person who told him that he is Mumbai DCP. The caller also said that the victim’s Aadhaar is linked to some Hawala Racket. The fraudster threatened to provide the victim’s account details.

Later the caller managed to take off a total Rs 30,16,742 from the victim in various transactions.
