A regional branch of the Sri Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences and Research will be established in Hubballi at a cost of Rs 260 crore.
Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai made an announcement to this effect in the state budget for 2022-23 on Friday, March 4, 2022.
The 350-bed hospital is meant to primarily serve the seven districts of the erstwhile Bombay Karnataka region – Belagavi, Vijayapura, Bagalkot, Gadag, Haveri, Dharwad and Uttara Kannada. Additionally, it’s expected to serve the districts of Koppal, Vijayanagar, Ballari, Davangere and Shivamogga.
The Jayadeva hospital branch will be a big boon to people from the region as it will provide quality, affordable heart care. Jayadeva is known for providing various heart surgeries and procedures at a fraction of the cost charged by private hospitals.
It remains to be seen where the Jayadeva hospital will come up in Hubballi. One option could be the KIMS campus but it’s already saturated. The government may allot land elsewhere.
