Section 144, Route Diversion in Place in City

DHARWAD, June 02: In view of Lok Sabha polls vote counting on June 4, Hubballi-Dharwad police commissionerate has banned the vehicular movement around the counting center and announced traffic diversion.

The polling for Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency was held on May 7 and the votes will be counted at the University of Agricultural Sciences (UAS) here on June 4.

According to a press release issued by the commissionerate, heavy vehicles coming from Hubballi and Savadatti to go towards Belagavi should move via German Circle and Kelageri bypass.  Light vehicles can take diversion from Pepsi Co. and move via Narendra bypass.

The vehicles entering Dharwad from Belagavi must take U-turn near KEB Grid and reach Dharwad City via Basavanagar, Pepsi Co and old PB road. While the heavy vehicles must move via toll plaza, Kelageri bridge, and town police station.

Parking for Public:

The public who wish to witness the counting process must park their vehicles at the open place near Basavanagar.

Section 144:

The District Returning Officer Divya Prabhu has stated that prohibitory orders under section 144 of CrPC, and section 35 of KP Act 1963 will be in force in 200-metre radius of the counting centre and people will not be allowed to gather and move in groups. The order will be in force from 6:00 am on June 2 to 6:00 am on June 5.
