Jagadish Shettar Registers Massive Victory in Belagavi

BELAGAVI, June 4: Former Chief Minister of Karnataka Jagadish Shettar, a BJP candidate for Belgaum constituency for the Lok Sabha polls 2014 has registered a massive victory by the margin of nearly two lakh votes.

Shettar secured 7,56,471 votes where as his close competitor from Congress Mrunal Hebbalkar bagged 5.80,897 votes.

With a total of 13,75,285 votes, the constituency had reached 71.49 per cent voter turnout.

Shettar had left BJP ahead of the Karnataka Assembly polls last year when he was denied ticket from Hubballi-Dharwad Central. He later unsuccessfully contested on Congress ticket and re-joined BJP in January.

One more former chief minister of Karnataka Basavaraj Bommai contested from the saffron party from Haveri constituency and secured 7,05,538 votes. Bommai has defeated Gaddadevarmath by a margin of 43,513 votes.

Probably for the first time, Hubballi has become a home of three MPs.
