Hubballi Police Open Fire after Accused Thief Attacked Them

HUBBALLI, July 25: Keshwapur Police open rounds of fire in air and at an accused thief and injured him when he reportedly attacked them and tried to escape.

According to Hubballi-Dharwad police commissioner N Shashikumar, the incident took place at 6.30 am on Tarihal Cross in Hubballi.

The commissioner said that a team of Keshwapur Police led by inspector K.S.Hatti went to Gamanagatti to arrest the accused who was allegedly involved in Keshwapur jewellery shop theft case.

“The accused, while trying to escape, attacked two cops and injured WPC Sujatha and PC Mahesh attached to Keshwapur police station.!Then WPSI Kavitha Madyal opend fire of 2 rounds in the air and one on the accused,” the commissioner informed.

The injured cops and the accused have been shifted to KMC-RI for the treatment.

The police have already arrested one accused Farhan Sheikh, a native of Mumbai region, an interstate offender in connection with the robbery case of jewellery shop in Keshwapur.

The firing incident took place when the police went to arrest the second accused in the case.
