112 Hotels, Bakeries Fail Food Quality Tests in Hubballi. Notices Issued

HUBBALLI, Sep 03: As many as 112 shops failed food quality test conducted by Food Safety and Standards Department officials in Hubballi-Dharwad. Notices were issued to 112 shops and imposed Rs 80,000 fine on Friday and Saturday.

According to a DH report, the officials have launched the special drive to inspect the food quality in the hotels, restaurants, roadside eateries, bakeries and sweet shops to check quality, cleanliness, and trade license.

On Friday, the officials visited 52 shops and issued notices to 47 shops for violating rules and imposed a fine of Rs 38,500. They also sent 22 food samples to the laboratory for quality check. On Saturday, the officials visited 71 shops and issued notices to 65 shops. They sent 30 food samples collected from these shops to the laboratory. A fine of Rs 41,500 has been imposed, the officials informed.
