Unknown assailants brutally attacked an RTI activist and chopped off his right leg and right hand, and almost severed his left hand on Thursday.
The victim has been identified as Venkatesh, 50.
According to media reports, about five armed assailants on motorcycles approached Venkatesh and attacked him brutally in Magadi Road, Southwest Bengaluru at around 11:30 am on Thursday. They fled leaving the 50-year-old in a pool of blood when his screams drew passersby to the crime scene.
Venkatesh was immediately rushed to the hospital and he is now out of danger.
The RTI activist had filed many applications under the Right To Information (RTI) Act, seeking details of various public projects and exposing government corruption.
Tavarekere police have registered a case in this regard and launched the investigation.
