HUBBALLI, Oct 07: In a bid to arrest a dacoit accused, Gokul police shot in the leg of the accused and managed to arrest him on Monday morning.
The accused has been identified as 48-year-old Mahesh Seetaram Kale.
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, (Law & Order) Mahaning Nandaganvi, there was an attempt to dacoity on a house in Gokul village at around 3 am by a group of five to six people. The police rushed to arrest them.
“One of the persons was caught and while trying to secure others, he tried to escape. Gokul PSI Sachin Dasreddy opened firing at the leg of the accused and managed to arrest him. Police constable Vasanth Gudgeri has also been injured in the incident,” the DCP said.
All the injured have been admitted to KMC-RI for the treatment.
