THESE WOMEN MAKE CLOTH BAGS TO BEAT PLASTIC

HUBBALLI: In a bid to prepare cloth bags at a low cost to replace plastic carry bags, a five-day workshop on making cloth bags by underprivileged women was held at the University of Agricultural Sciences, Dharwad (UAS) recently.

The workshop was jointly organized by Dharwad Bonds, a Facebook group; Nature First Eco Village, and Rotary Club of Seven Hills Dharwad.

Underprivileged women from various parts of North-Karnataka were trained to stich cloth bags and later these bags were distributed and sold on Subhash Road in Dharwad.

Nature First Eco Village founder PV Hiremath and Kiran Hiremath, the admin of Dharwad Bonds, Ottilie Anban Kumar of GoGreen Hubballi Dharwad and other led the project.
