DHARWAD: The district administration has provided vehicle facility to collect throat swab samples from citizens for Covid-19 tests and Deputy Commissioner Nitish Patil has asked citizens to make the most of the facility.
“On Friday, such vehicles will be made available in four places in Hubballi and two places in Dharwad,” he added.
The vehicles will be provided at Idgah Maidan, Nehru Stadium, near the office of the City Corporation Zonal 10 (Old Hubballi), and near the Siddaroodha Mutt in Hubballi city and near the Kalabhavan and near the Lingayat Bhavan in Channabasaveshwara Nagar in Dharwad for throat swab sample collection.
“People with cough, cold, fever, diabetes, cardiac issues, BP and aged above 60 years should get themselves tested. Separate queue facilities will be provided to senior citizens and those with above mentioned health problems. Priority will also be given to them,” said the officer.
The vehicles will go to the rural areas like Uppina Betageri and Narendra villages as well as Gokul Road and Tendersure (Vidyanagar) Road in Hubballi for swab collection. The vehicles will be posted at prominent spots in rural areas from 11 am to 4.30 pm and the rural people too should get themselves tested, said Patil.
He added that 70% cases of Covid-19 deaths in the district so far have been of people with high diabetes and cardiac problems. “People with diabetes should, therefore, keep their sugar levels under control. Cardiac patients too should take additional care. Don’t get out of your houses unnecessarily but take rest at home,” he advised.
