HUBBALLI: 101 Covid-19 infected pregnant women successfully delivered babies at Karnataka Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) between April first week and September 13 this year.
Addressing mediapersons here on Monday, KIMS Director Ramlingappa Antaratani said that there had been 35 normal deliveries and 66 Cesarean deliveries at KIMS Hospital during the Covid-19 situation.
He said, four infants have died in their mothers’ womb while three women died after giving birth to their infants. One of the pregnant women had developed pus in her womb, another woman was suffering from cancer. Handling these complications was really a big task for the doctors of KIMS Hospital.
At the maternity ward, eight PG students and 12 house nurses had tested positive for Covid infection. All of them have recovered and joined back to their duties. They have done a commendable job,” Dr. Antaratani added.
