There has been no discussion on re-imposing the lockdown on Karnataka nor is any meeting scheduled at the weekend in this regard, the chief minister’s office stated on Friday, July 3.
There was widespread speculation about re-imposing the lockdown after the SSLC exams which got over on Friday.
The speculation was bolstered by Revenue Minister R Ashoka’s statement last week that the government would consider re-imposing the lockdown after July 7 to check the spread of Covid-19.
The CMO has, however, scotched all these rumours. “Yesterday and today, no meetings have been held on the lockdown,” it said. “Tomorrow and the day after also, no meetings are scheduled on the lockdown,” it said, according to DH.
Government sources further claimed that Ashoka’s statement was “misunderstood” and that he was only referring to a stricter enforcement of safety measures, the newspaper’s website reported on July 3.
