NGO Builds Homes For Poor Who Lost Shelter in 2019 Floods

HUBBALLI: The local unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind has constructed homes for poor families who lost shelter due to flooding in the city last year.

Addressing reporters at the key handing over ceremony at Old Hubballi on Thursday, Abdul Qadir, Jamaat’s local president, said the flood of 2019 had caused huge losses to many people in Hubballi. “As an immediate relief, we distributed blankets, food packets and many essential goods,” he said.

He further said: “Many people had lost their home due to the flood. We had conducted a survey and found that some people were unable to reconstruct their houses due to a financial crunch. Based on the survey, we had decided to build houses for two families. We completed the construction and handed over keys to the families today,” he added.

Former MLC AM Hindasgeri inaugurated the newly built houses. Jamaat leaders KI Shaikh, Maulana Syed Abdul Haseeb, Abdul Majeed, Sadiq Shaikh and others were present.
