Karnataka will reopen all medical, dental, Ayush, paramedical, nursing and pharmacy colleges affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) on December 1, Health and Medical Education Minister Dr K Sudhakar announced on Friday, November 13.
“Karnataka Government has decided to reopen all the medical, dental,AYUSH, paramedical, nursing and pharmacy colleges affiliated to RGUHS from 1st December. I request the administration of colleges & students 2 strictly adhere to the guidelines issued by the government,” he tweeted.
This will mean RGUHS colleges would be reopening after the lockdown which was imposed in March. New MBBS batches may also start next month.
The announcement was immediately criticised by many students who called for a postponement.
Degree colleges in Karnataka are set to reopen later in November while classes 9-12 are likely to reopen in December, according to media reports. The government is yet to make an announcement to this effect. It will also decide shortly on reopening schools.
