Man Grows Ganja With Onion and Chili, Arrested

HUBBALLI: Hubballi Rural Police arrested a 30-year-old man who was growing ganja along with onion and chili on his field.

Chandru Kashinath Bannikoppa, 30, a resident of Kusugal, had taken a site on lease from a man from Hubballi and had been growing onion and chili. He had apparently been growing ganja along with the two crops in a camouflaged manner,

Getting a tip-off that Chandru was doing so, the police team, directed by DySP Ravi and led by Inspector Ramesh Gokak, conducted a raid and seized 18.4 kg ganja saplings from the field.

A case has been registered at the Rural police station under the NDPS Act. The arrested man has been remanded in judicial custody.
