Karnataka breaks the record, sees over 100 Covid-19 cases in a single day; 22 new cases in Davangere, none in Dharwad


Hubballi: Karnataka reported the highest-ever increase in Covid-19 cases in a single day, recording 149 cases on Tuesday, May 19. Mandya district contributed 71 cases, and Davanagere district 22.

Ironically, the surge came on a day when public transport, including train and bus services, started in the state.

While no new cases were reported in Dharwad, the neighbouring Gadag district reported one fresh case. Kalaburgi reported 13, Shivamogga 10, Bengaluru 6, Chikkamagaluru 5, Bagalkot 5, Udupi and Uttara Kannada district reported 4 each, Hassan 3, Vijayapura, Yadgiri, Gadag, Chitradurga, Raichur, and Bidar reported one each cases, as per the evening bulletin released by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

Uttara Kannada, another district that borders Dharwad, reported four new cases.
