HUBBALLI: Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation Wednesday began the demolition drive of shops in Janata Bazaar near the Sangolli Rayanna Circle here amidst severe objection by businessmen.
The clearance is part of the renovation of Janata Bazaar under the Smart City project.

The local businessmen, however, are opposed to the renovation. The Corporation has given multiple notices. New vendors are provided outlets near Hosur, but there are no facilities in the new outlet. The shift is being undertaken without providing us alternate stalls too, complained the businessmen.
The Corporation is clearing more than 170 stalls. Both Corporation officers and police officers have kept a watch over the clearance work.
