Confused about different quarantine rules for different categories of travellers in Karnataka? Hubballi Times decodes it for you.

1) International travellers

a) People arriving in Karnataka from abroad will be compulsorily quarantined in institutions (hotels, government hostels, etc) for seven days. There will not be any Covid-19 tests on them. If they develop any Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, dry cough, breathing difficulty within these seven days, they will be immediately tested. If the report is positive, they will be hospitalised. If the report is negative, they will remain quarantined there. But if they do not show any symptoms during the seven days of institutional quarantine, they will be quarantined at home for another seven days.

b) Pregnant women, children under 10, people aged over 80 and those suffering from chronic diseases (cancer, kidney disease, stroke, etc) will be subjected to Covid-19 tests and sent to home quarantine for 14 days if the report is negative.

2) Inter-state travellers

a) People returning to Karnataka from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Delhi and Tamil Nadu will be compulsorily quarantined in institutions (hotels, government hostels, etc) for seven days. No test will done for inter-state travellers either. If they develop any Covid-19 symptoms such as fever, dry cough, breathing difficulty, etc, within these seven days, they will be immediately tested. If the report is positive, they will be hospitalised. If the report is negative, they will remain quarantined there. But if they do not show any symptoms, they will be quarantined at home for seven days.

b) Inter-state travellers carrying negative Covid-19 reports from an ICMR-designated lab will NOT BE quarantined at institutions (hotels, government hostels, etc). They will be instead quarantined at home. The test report should not be more than two days old.

c) People travelling to Karnataka from all other states will be only quarantined at home for 14 days.

d) Pregnant women, children under 10, people aged over 80 and those suffering from chronic diseases (cancer, kidney disease, stroke, etc) will be subjected to Covid-19 tests and sent to home quarantine for 14 days if the report comes back negative.

e) If a person flies to Karnataka in transit via Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi and Tamil Nadu but does not come out of the airport, he/she will be only quarantined at home for 14 days.

f) People arriving in Karnataka by train/flight must register themselves on the Seva Sindhu app. Acknowledgement will be equal to approval.

g) People arriving in Karnataka by personal vehicles must register themselves on the Seva Sindhu app. E-pass will be mandatory to enter the Karnataka border. Mere acknowledgement will not be acceptable.

3) Inter-district travellers

No permission required to travel from one district to another in Karnataka. No quarantine required either.
