Karnataka reported more than 6,000 new cases of Covid-19 during a 24-hour period for the first time.
As many as 6,128 cases of the deadly infection were reported in the state between 5 pm, July 29, and 5 pm, July 30, according to the bulletin issued by the Department of Health and Family Welfare.
The state has so far seen 1,18,632 cases of Covid-19. The total fatalities stand at 2,230 after 83 new deaths.
A total of 620 patients are serious as they remain in the ICU, including 337 in Bengaluru Urban and 39 in Dharwad.
Bengaluru Urban continues to top the list of the worst affected districts with 2,233 new cases during the 24-hour period. For the first time, 16 districts reported more than 100 new cases other than Bengaluru Urban. They are: Mysuru (430), Ballari (343), Udupi (248), Bengaluru Rural (224), Kalaburagi (220), Belagavi (202), Dakshina Kannada (198), Dharwad (180), Raichur (166), Shivamogga (143), Bagalkot, Chikkamagaluru (126 each), Vijayapura (124), Uttara Kannada (120), Ramanagara (106) and Tumakuru (104).
The other districts are: Hassan (94), Gadag (88), Mandya (87), Davangere (86), Chikkaballapur (82), Koppal (78), Bidar (69), Yadgir, Haveri (58 each), Chitradurga (47), Kolar, Chamarajanagar (32 each) and Kodagu (24).
On the positive side, a record 3,793 patients were discharged during the said 24-hour period, including 1,912 in the Bengaluru Urban district.
