Showing empathy towards unpaid private schoolteachers, a section of government schoolteachers have come forward to donate their one-day salary to their counterparts, who have not been paid their wages during the Covid crisis.
It can be recalled here that Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Suresh Kumar had urged the government school teachers to donate their two days’ salary to help private school teachers who are in distress during the pandemic.
Responding positively to the State Government’s call, majority of government school teachers have decided to donate one-day salary to private school teachers.
According to a report, if the government school teachers (high school and primary) donate their one day’s salary, it will come up to Rs 40 crore.
Speaking to DH, Karnataka State High School Assistant Teachers Association president HK Manjunath has warned that private school managements should not use this donation as an excuse to further delay salaries.
