Dharwad Dist To Witness First Election Amidst Pandemic Today

DHARWAD: The district is set to witness its first elections during the COVID-19 pandemic, as polls will get underway for the West Graduates’ Constituency on Wednesday.

The voting will take place from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm at 146 polling stations across the four districts – Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, and Uttara Kannada.

Addressing presspersons in Dharwad on Tuesday, Regional Commissioner and Returning Officer Amlan Aditya Biswas said that there were a total of 74,268 voters in the constituency and 249 help desks had been set up for their assistance in these four districts.

“To ensure free and fair elections, a total of 756 police officials and personnel had been deployed in the four districts,” Biswas added.

DC Nitesh Patil, H-D police commissioner Labhu Ram, Dharwad SP P. Krishnakant and others were present.
