COVID Case: 2 wards of KIMS remain sealed down

Hubballi: Ward numbers 304 and 305 of KIMS Hospital have been sealed down, after a pregnant woman of Badami tested positive for Corona infection a couple of days ago.

The woman, who had come to KIMS Hospital from SDM was admitted to Ward 305. The doctors, gynecologists, surgeons and post-graduate students of the medicine division who were present on duty were subjected to testing for infection and the report showed negative.

The fear of infection that persisted among the doctors, however, has led to a sealdown of the wards and repeated sanitisation. The wards will be sealed down for few more days, said sources.

According to a VV report, the post-graduate students have expressed concern that there will be no certainty regarding the movement of the doctors within the hospital and the patients they would have treated. If the doctors who treated the Covid-19 patients treat the others too, the possibility of contagion cannot be sidelined. On the other hand, if the doctors themselves are to be kept under quarantine, how will the patients be treated, they have asked.

The students have apparently met the director and expressed their opinion and worry. The matter is to be discussed with the deputy commissioner.
