DHARWAD: The special CBI court here has ordered that the three Union Excise Duty and GST officers who were arrested in Belagavi while accepting bribe be remanded in judicial custody till September 30, reported a Kannada daily.
According to the report, the arrested officers are Inspector Vaibhav Goel, Superintendent Suresh Jadagi and Deputy Superintendent Mohan Kumar.
The officers had apparently demanded Rs 20 lakh to reduce the GST. Rajalakshman, owner of the R N Paan Masala company, had complained to the CBI office in Bengaluru on this matter.
The CBI team visited Belagavi on Wednesday and conducted a joint investigation with the Anti Corruption Bureau officers. They arrested the three officers when they were accepting Rs 5 lakh from the complainant.
The officers were presented before the third additional special CBI court on Thursday.
